About the Spa // The 12 million dollar Solace Spa opened in the Banff Springs Hotel in 1995 and quickly distinguished itself as one of the world's ten best spa destinations. Designed by Calgary architect, Robert LeBlond, whose charge was to design a spa in the best European tradition and incorporate it into the hotel.

The 35,000 square foot spa is graced with three waterfalls and delivers world-class pampering and more than 25 treatments within a lavish, highly memorable environment. Featuring cascading waterfalls, grand fireplaces, solariums, 18 private treatment rooms, fitness and cardio-strength training areas, a restaurant, beauty salon and boutique, the centerpiece of the spa is the breathtakingly lovely warm mineral pool with its tiles and mosaics in blues and greens and large vaulted skylight that infuses the interior with rays of sunshine. Daily access includes all aquatic and fitness privileges and the use of Spa locker room and amenities. Appointments are required.

Treatments // Total relaxation and revitalization for the mind, body and soul come in the form of Lifestyle Programs which include fitness assessments, weight management packages, personal training, fitness classes, nutritional analysis, and stress management. Qualified instructors provide a variety of regularly scheduled fitness classes including morning hikes, step classes, aquasize and yoga. A monthly schedule will be provided upon arrival. Body therapies, aromatic wraps, refreshing facials for men and women, mineral herbal baths, relaxing massages are administered by licensed professionals in a soothing and therapeutic manner.

The tradition of "taking the waters" is a centuries-old ritual of rejuvenation. The Hungarian Kur treatment has been instituted at Solace. The Kur bath, world renowned for its high content of mineral and trace elements, helps improve circulation and muscle and joint mobility while enhancing over-all health. Solace comes from the Latin phrase solus par aqua (SPA) meaning health by water.

Tips // For the fitness facilities, the only essentials are workout clothes and proper footwear. You'll receive a robe and slippers to wear between treatments and a locker for your personal belongings. Bring a bathing suit if you plan to indulge in the mineral pool. Should you forget to bring one, wide selection of suits are available in the Boutique.
