THE PEARL, A BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN TIMES SQUARE NEW YORK CITY

About // The Pearl is a lustrous new luxury hotel located in the heart of New York’s theater district. (In fact, it is directly across from the Eugene O’Neil Theater, which is presently hosting the hottest ticket on Broadway, The Book of Mormon, which promises to play for a very long time.) A blend of sophistication and art deco elegance, The Pearl’s 94 non-smoking rooms and suites possess every amenity and vary in size and shape to accommodate each guest’s needs. The service is impeccable and exceptionally friendly.

What To Do // There is so much to do in New York City it would take a veritable encyclopedia to list all possible activities: museums, concerts, shopping, walking, biking and hiking, and, of course, eating, are just a few. Did you know you can play golf, climb rock walls and swim in New York?  Although this is the perfect hotel to stay in if you are attending theater, Broadway and Off Broadway, its midtown location gives you the flexibility to travel to and explore the four corners of New York, uptown and downtown, east side and west side.  Take advantage of the hotel’s concierge, who can arrange any activity you want to pursue, and make restaurant reservations that are necessary in almost every season.

In the Area //
Radio City Music Hall
30 Rockefeller Plaza
Saks 5th Avenue
Saint Patrick’s Cathedral
Christie’s Auction House
MOMA - Museum of Modern Art

Where To Eat // The Pearl gives guest discounts at the hotel’s adjoining restaurant E&E, which is open from 11a.m. to 11p.m. and also offers room service. A Continental-style Breakfast is served (No charge) on the second floor of the hotel in a pleasant space surrounded by glass walls that overlooks the lobby. A short walk down 49th street at #249 is the very interesting Lillie’s Victorian Establishment (232-957-4530). It is a spacious sky-light-filled restaurant, with a very long white marble bar, decorated with many chandeliers and pictures. Eclectic menu. Good Sunday Brunch. There, are, of course, thousands of restaurants representing every country and every ethnic taste in NY CITY.

My husband and I stayed in an Executive Suite a The Pearl and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Pearl is an oasis within a frenetic universe. The suite was spacious with amazing closet space, well-appointed with all necessities. The entrance leads into a living room with sofa, tables, chairs, a wide screen TV and a small kitchen with sink, microwave, coffee bar and small refrigerator.  The bathroom is done in the finest grey tile, and has a walk-in shower and separate large bathtub plus a TV. The bedroom is comfortable and roomy with a large window and plenty of storage space. A desk fills its own nook. Of course, it also has a large TV.  The staff is exceptionally helpful and professional.
