Grand Hotel Terme in Sirmione
About Lake
Garda and Sirmione:
Garda is the largest and easternmost of the Italian
lakes and borders three regions: Trentino
to the north, Lombardy to the west and
Veneto to the south and east. The area enjoys
a geography that combines low-lying countryside,
tree lined rocky cliffs and snow- capped mountains.
Perched at the tip of a narrowing strip on the southern
end of Lake Garda, Sirmione is a charming
peninsula, that juts out 2 1/2 miles into the Lake.
A major resort, the delightful town bustles from
Spring until Fall. A fascinating medieval castlle,
Castello Scaligera sits at the entrance
of the quaint town and welcomes visitors to meander
on foot through cobblestone streets with picturesque
piazzas lined with marvelous boutiques, delicious
trattorias, terrace cafes, and heavenly gelati stands.

About Grand
Hotel Terme:
Right next door to the castle and the entrance to
the town of Sirmione, The Grand Terme is
a three story hotel that sits graciously alongside
the lake. The wide marble clad halls, warmly hued
Venetian plaster walls lead to casually elegant
furnished balconied bedrooms with exquisite views.
Spa, physical therapy facilities and lakeside swimming
pool make this a comprehensive hotel and resort.
The Conference Center includes two halls,
the Catullo and Virgilio which accommodate
120 people each. Using these wonderful spaces affords
a perfect opportunity to make an official event
turn into an unforgettable moment, with the stunning
lake in the background.

Things to do:
Aside from lounging at one of the hotel's two pools,
indoors at the health spa or enjoying the spectacular
lake and mountain vistas at the outdoor pool, ferry
and hydrofoil trips are a marvelous way to explore
the lake. A boat dock at the center of town is convenient
and easily accessed. Plan on staying several nights
Sirmione to allow for side trips to the famous
and historical cities such as Verona, Vicenza
and Mantua. Sirmione offers a host of
cultural events and a variety of sports activities.
Expert and amateur golfers will find splendid greens.
Sailing enthusiasts can watch the famous 100-mile
regatta and also take the helm themselves, sailing
on the waters of Lake Garda. Tennis lovers
will enjoy the nearby courts.

Places
to eat:
A serene elegance is the way to describe the indoor
outdoor L'Orangerie Dining Room. Glassed
walls offer incredible vistas of the lake and mountains.
Sumptuous breakfast buffets fortify visitors for
their laid back day of relaxation. Open year round,
the restaurant offers refined and exquisitely prepared
dishes from risotto with snails to fettuccini with
fresh porcini. The restaurant is also the ideal
choice for important and special occasions, gala
dinners, banquets and cocktail parties.
The Wine-Bar at the Grand Hotel Terme offers
400 carefully selected Italian and foreign wines
representing the finest in wine-making tradition.
With an enchanting view of Sirmione Castle as the
backdrop, the tastings at the elegant Wine-Bar are
a highlight for discerning guests.

In
Town Dining:
Charming trattorias and family run bistros welcome
visitors to sample local specialties. The Ristorante
Al Progresso in Sirmione is a delightful family
run operation. Our favorites were fegato di vitello
alla veneziana ( calf liver with onions ), a speciality
of the region and cotoletta alla milanese ( Milanese
chop breaded). Freshly made pasta, crisp salads
and local favorite Prosecco wine were truly enjoyable.
Al Progresso is at Via V. Emanuele, 16. Tel: 030
916108. For dessert the choice each time is
gelati. Italian ice cream is addictive. Chocolate
lovers will revel in Nutella, a chocolate and ground
hazlenut confection.
Aquaria Spa:
The new health and beauty center at the Grand
Hotel Terme focuses on relaxation and innovative
treatments. From the depths of Lake Garda comes
the hot-salsobromoiodic sulphurous water and mud
that is well-known by the scientific community for
healing and well being. The water is ideal for the
treatment of sinusitis, rhinitis, otitis, laryngopharyngitis
and bronchitis, rheumatisms and arthritis. Mud treatments,
hydromassage and hydrokinesis therapy are among
the many treatments at the The Grand Hotel Terme
Sirmione Thermal Center. Run by physicians,
Sirmione makes treatments a pleasure.
Transportation Tips:
Sirmione lies 3 1/2 miles from the A4 autostrada
exit and five miles from the town of Desenzano.
